Top Brand Award is an appreciation of the brands which are categorized as top brand. Top criteria is based on a survey conducted by Frontier Consulting Group from 2000 until 2009.Some product categories are included along with the recent emergence of new product categories or other reasons.
Frontier Consulting Group has conducted surveys since 2000 Top Brand held once a year, year 2009 is a year-9 for Top Brand Survey. Already more than hundreds of products included in this survey, and in line with the increasing number of product categories surveyed, then starting in 2007 Top Brands Survey and the Top Brand Award held twice a year called the Top Brand Top Brand Phase I and Phase II.
Top Brand Award is given to brands in certain categories of products that meet two criteria, namely: 1. Brands Top Brand Index which obtained a minimum of 10%, AND 2. Brands according to the survey results are in a position in the top three product categories.
Both these criteria must be met by a brand that he was entitled to carry the Top Brand. Given these two criteria, then in one product category did not rule out more than one brand, a maximum of three brands, which reached the Top Brands.
Top Brands Survey 2009 was conducted in six cities, namely: Bandung, Jakarta, Makassar, Medan, Semarang, and SURABAYA. The number of random samples in each town is 500 people.Booster added to each product category which includes premium products in order to increase the incidence rate. Total respondents were randomly surveyed 3000 people, while respondents booster for 1500 people.
Criteria of respondents are male or female aged between 15-65 years with between SES SES level E (spending an average of more than Rp. 750 thousand per month) to SES A (spending an average of more than Rp. 3.5 million per month) .
Samples taken by multistage random sampling method for random samples, while for the booster taken with a purposive sampling method. The survey was conducted by using face to face personal interview.
Top Brand Index is measured using three parameters, that is top of mind awareness (ie based on a brand that was first mentioned by the respondents when the product category is mentioned), Last Used (ie based on the brand last used / consumed by the respondent in a re-purchase cycle), and future intention (ie based on the brands that want to used / consumed in the future).
The value of each parameter for a brand in certain categories of products obtained by calculating the percentage frequency of the brand relative to the frequency of overall brand. TBI then obtained by calculating a weighted average of each parameter.
